Farmville Iced Coffee?

I stopped by a 7-11 today to buy some chapstick and beer, two essentials for a saturday afternoon. While inside I noticed that Farmville now had its own coffee. Kinda cool, kinda creepy. Not gonna lie, the thought that giving away a digital coffee stand on a make believe farm would drive people to buy things in the real world is pathetic. On the other hand it is a briliant idea from the people at Zynga to bring their game into the real world. I personally don’t play Farmville because I think it is 1) stupid 2) a waste of time 3) a stupid waste of time but there are apparently 70 million+ people who would disagree. I admire the creativity of a good tie in even though I am not the target.

As time goes on I think these digital tie ins are going to be more common. Its a great way for brands to interact socialy online in ways they never could in person and then carry that equity into the real world to drive sales (or vice versa) all Zynga needs to figure out now is how to get the digital farm to grow real produce somewhere and sell it back to its own people. Now that would be freekin cool.
